The conventional wisdom is that only the British write good spy thrillers. Of course anyone who's read Donald Hamilton, David Hagberg, or Ross Thomas knows that's just silly.

Case in point: THE DRAGON'S EYE by Scott C.S. Stone, which is not only one of the best spy novels ever written by an American, not only THE best spy to come out of the US's tragic involvement in Viet Nam, but the first novel to win an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America in the category of Best Original Paperback Novel.

Regretfully, because THE DRAGON'S EYE was published as a paperback original by Gold Medal in 1969, it soon fell out of sight. The shelf life of paperback originals is notoriously short, and, despite its quality, THE DRAGON'S EYE was no different.

But now it's back in print, in a handsome trade edition. And its return is very welcome.

The author's personal approach to a form of divination described in this book is both entertaining and knowledgable. Great use of stones, their symbolism and connections to various emotions and planets in a comprehensive setting to get anyone started on the road to this form of divination. It's unique and fresh methods for fortelling the future make this book a great addition any serious diviner's collection. I big 5 in my book.

This book is really a rare find. The author really hit close to the center of the bullseye with this book, not only delivering a powerful testimony, but also presenting realistic suggestions for readers in the areas of intervention and prevention.

I am fortunate enough to have met Ms. Elaine Stone herself and find her style to be that of great elegance, sophistication, grace, and poshness. She is by far the most fashionable person I have yet to meet. Reading The Dynamics of Fashion as my textbook for my FM114 class I found it very informant and recommend it to everyone, even those who are not a student of fashion.

This book is easy to read and provides some tools that will make your life much easier. The sample code is outstanding and is provided on a CD. If you like to learn by example, I highly recommend this book.

Mallory Loehr's Earth Magic, the second book in the Magic Elements Quartet, is truly wonderful. Something magical always happens to Polly and her brother Sam. It's great how Persephone changes from a rock into the daughter of the goddess of the Earth. This book is not too hard and not too easy. It's perfect!

This is quite honestly one of the best childrens' stories ever. The music is wonderful, the charcters are developed and interesting, and the story is fantastic. This should really be made into a theater production for the stage, it's so good.

This is a wonderful book-rich with history and classic recipes! I grew up eating at Joe's on our annual trips to the Miami area. The food and atmosphere were always memorable. I have especially enjoyed creating the salads, sides, and luscious desserts that enhanced the stone crab experience in my own kitchen. This book is a must have for both the recipes and the tales that have built the persona of Joe's Stone Crab.
